According to a study published by a group of football experts, the world’s most valuable squad belongs to Real Madrid, with a total value exceeding £1.4 billion. Meanwhile, MU ranks 8th on this list.
Six of the top ten teams come from the Premier League, according to data from the International Centre for Sports Studies (CIES). The experts at CIES have compiled transfer value estimates for clubs worldwide and created a list of the 100 most valuable teams. Real Madrid tops the list with £1.45 billion, thanks to stars like Jude Bellingham, Vinicius Jnr, and Kylian Mbappe.
Man City ranks second with a total value of £1.23 billion, falling about £200 million short of Real Madrid. Despite being in a crisis, MU still has a squad value of £828 million, placing 8th. This figure is not much higher than the £617 million they have spent in the transfer market during Erik ten Hag’s tenure.
MU has fallen behind rivals like Chelsea and Arsenal, with squad values of £1.16 billion and £1.03 billion, respectively. Barcelona (£941 million) and Liverpool (£920 million) also make the top 5. PSG ranks 7th with £911 million, while Tottenham (£742 million) and Leverkusen (£722 million) round out the top 10. Bayern Munich, with a value of £670 million, ranks 12th.
Jurgen Klopp has also had a good start in his new role as “Global Football Director” of the Red Bull group, with RB Leipzig sitting at 18th with £535 million, just below Juventus, while Red Bull Salzburg is 64th with £176 million.
Aston Villa ranks 16th with a squad value of £600 million, competing with Inter, AC Milan, and Atletico Madrid. Meanwhile, Newcastle (£455 million) and West Ham (£444 million) also have high rankings, standing at 22nd and 24th, respectively. Additionally, Everton’s well-documented financial collapse has not prevented them from making the top 50, situated between Girona and Shakhtar with £224 million.
The highest-ranked club outside Europe is Palmeiras from Brazil, which ranks 62nd with £177 million. Al Nassr, featuring superstar Cristiano Ronaldo, is 97th with a squad value of £104 million.
