In a recent press conference, Erik Ten Hag shared notable insights about Mason Mount, despite the midfielder’s inconsistent performances since joining Manchester United from Chelsea for £55 million.
Mount has struggled to make an impact, having been sidelined by injuries for much of last season, appearing in just 19 matches with only one goal and one assist. This season hasn’t started much better; after two games, he’s again out due to fitness issues, missing three matches.
While Mount has been one of the more disappointing signings under Ten Hag, the Dutch coach remains optimistic. Ahead of United’s match against Crystal Palace, Ten Hag stated, “I identified what Mount can bring to the team during pre-season, and I’m confident that once he can play regularly, he will thrive.”
Ten Hag’s confidence is notable, especially as Mount has yet to find his ideal position, having been utilized in various roles without significant success. The coach’s belief suggests that he still sees potential for Mount to make a substantial impact once fit.
