Coach Erik ten Hag made important remarks after Manchester United‘s 1-1 draw against FC Twente in the opening round of the Europa League 2024/25.
United were favored as they hosted Twente at Old Trafford, and they took control from the start. However, it wasn’t until the 35th minute that the home team found the net, with Christian Eriksen scoring in a chaotic situation.
Unfortunately, in the 68th minute, Eriksen went from hero to villain. His loss of possession allowed the opponents to equalize.
Ten Hag expressed his disappointment: “We let them survive after going ahead 1-0 and controlling the match. You have to be resolute and keep pushing in the second half, but we significantly lowered our level of play and conceded.
We could have scored a second goal, but instead, they survived, and we were punished for our own mistakes. We are very disappointed.”
