Jadon Sancho is almost certain to leave MU during the remainder of the summer 2024 transfer window, possibly on loan or a permanent transfer.
MU is currently negotiating with Juventus and Chelsea regarding a deal for Sancho. Juventus has been interested in the 24-year-old since January 2024 and continued their pursuit in the summer, while Chelsea is also considered a viable partner for the deal.
If Chelsea is involved, it might require a player going the other way, with Raheem Sterling being the most likely candidate. However, several issues need to be resolved before this deal can go through, as Sterling plans to make a decision about his future only after sorting out his contract situation with Chelsea.
Sterling is not in the plans of new coach Enzo Maresca at Stamford Bridge, but he still has 3 years left on his contract with a salary of £300,000 per week. MU will also need to consider whether bringing Sterling in is financially and strategically feasible.
Sancho spent the second half of last season on loan at Dortmund, scoring 3 goals in 21 appearances and helping the Bundesliga side reach the Champions League final. Although he returned to training with MU at the start of the summer, he was excluded from the squad for both of MU’s opening matches in the Premier League 2024/25 due to difficulties in finding a place in the lineup.
Sancho joined MU from Dortmund in the summer of 2021 for £85 million and has made 83 appearances, scoring 12 goals for the club.
