Real Madrid star Rodrygo admitted that head coach Carlo Ancelotti was not entirely satisfied following their 4-1 victory against Espanyol in La Liga.
After defeating VfB Stuttgart in their Champions League opener, Real Madrid returned to domestic action with a match against Espanyol at home. There was a moment of concern early in the second half when Espanyol took the lead, but the reigning Spanish champions managed to turn the game around.
However, this performance was still not enough to please Carlo Ancelotti. Speaking to the media after the match on Saturday, Rodrygo revealed that Ancelotti was disappointed that the team failed to score in the first half. Specifically, out of the 18 goals Los Blancos have scored in their first six La Liga matches, 17 of them came in the second half.
Rodrygo stated, “Carlo Ancelotti was a bit frustrated because we only scored in the second half.”
Nonetheless, the win against Espanyol brought Real Madrid three valuable points as they continue to chase their rivals Barcelona in the standings. For Rodrygo personally, the goal he scored against Espanyol marked his second of the La Liga season after six appearances.
