MU has completely shifted its position on Casemiro

According to the British press, coach Erik ten Hag has reversed his decision on Casemiro following the midfielder’s impressive performances during pre-season and the start of the 2024/25 Premier League season.

MU has changed its approach towards Casemiro significantly

At the end of the previous season, the relationship between Ten Hag and Casemiro had become strained. Although Casemiro had an impressive 2022/23 season, his form declined in the 2023/24 season. He appeared overweight and struggled to regain his best form, while MU finished in 8th place.

Additionally, Casemiro faced several injuries and fitness issues. He missed the FA Cup final against Man City due to an injury. Amid these difficulties at Old Trafford, Casemiro was included on MU‘s list of players to offload in the summer of 2024.

The Saudi Pro League was seen as a potential destination for Casemiro, but according to British reports, the 32-year-old midfielder did not want to end his career in the Middle East and felt he still had more to contribute to MU. Consequently, Casemiro returned to MU‘s lineup with a readiness to play.

Casemiro performed well in the recent Community Shield match, despite MU losing to Man City in a penalty shootout. He also showed strong form in the Premier League 2024/25 opening match, a 1-0 victory against Fulham, and was rated as the best player of the match.

Casemiro is keen on remaining at MU

This impressive return has led coach Ten Hag to decide to keep Casemiro rather than trying to sell him during the summer transfer window of 2024. Currently, Casemiro is under contract with MU until 2026, and the club believes he still has value, at least for this season.

Meanwhile, Scott McTominay’s future remains uncertain. Ten Hag wants McTominay to stay but will not prevent him from leaving if MU receives an offer of around £35 million. McTominay is weighing whether to stay at MU as a valuable squad member or move to another club where he might play more regularly.

If he stays at Old Trafford, McTominay will have to accept a backup role at MU. Currently, the 27-year-old midfielder’s contract with the Red Devils is set to expire at the end of this season.
