The 2003-born midfielder Hannibal Mejbri has completed his medical at Burnley and joined the club on a permanent transfer rather than a loan. The exact fee Manchester United will receive from the transfer has not yet been disclosed.
Transfer expert Fabrizio Romano reported: “Hannibal Mejbri has completed his medical today at Burnley and will sign a long-term contract with the Championship club, instead of a loan with an option to buy. Manchester United requested a change in the structure of the deal, so they will receive the payment immediately. The contract will also include a clause for a percentage of any future sale if Burnley sells Mejbri.”
Manchester United is determined to sell Mejbri this summer to raise funds for other transfers. Mejbri joined Manchester United from AS Monaco’s academy for €10 million five years ago, making 13 appearances for the first team and scoring once.
He was loaned to Sevilla for the second half of last season but did not make an impact. In the summer friendlies of 2024, he also failed to impress, leading Manchester United to decide not to keep him.
Manchester United also needs funds to finalize the Manuel Ugarte deal from PSG. They are working to convince PSG to lower the price from £51 million to around £42 million. The deal might include a loan with an option to buy and is nearing completion.
Additionally, Manchester United has agreed to sell Scott McTominay to Napoli for €30 million. Before the Hannibal transfer was finalized, Manchester United also earned €6 million by sending Facundo Pellistri to Panathinaikos.
