Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber Set a Disappointing Record

Kai Havertz and Jurrien Timber failed to complete a single accurate pass during their match against Man City last night.

Arsenal and Man City drew 2-2 in a key fixture of the Premier League’s fifth round. Despite Erling Haaland scoring first, Arsenal maintained their composure. They took a 2-1 lead thanks to goals from Riccardo Calafiori and Gabriel Magalhaes. However, Leandro Trossard’s red card before halftime changed the game’s dynamics.

In the second half, Arsenal, down a man, were forced to defend against intense pressure from Man City. John Stones equalized in the dying minutes, resulting in a 2-2 draw.

With more than half the match played with ten men, Arsenal resorted to clearing the ball. Over the full 90 minutes, both Havertz and Timber failed to make any successful passes, with Havertz attempting 5 passes and Timber 6—all of which were off target.

This marks the first time in Premier League history, since Opta began tracking stats, that players have played a full 90 minutes without completing a single accurate pass. However, it’s difficult to place blame on Havertz and Timber given the circumstances Arsenal faced against Man City.

Following the draw, Man City remains at the top of the table with 13 points from 5 matches, while Arsenal sits fourth with 2 points fewer.
