Striker Erling Haaland of Man City, after failing to score last weekend, is now falling behind in the race for the 2024/25 European Golden Shoe. His points tally has been matched by two other players.
In Round 7 of the 2024/25 Premier League, Haaland was unable to score against Fulham, meaning he still has 10 goals in the league.
However, this figure is still enough for Haaland to top the league’s goalscoring chart, but it has not propelled the towering Norwegian striker into the Golden Shoe race.
Currently, Haaland has 20 points (10 goals multiplied by a coefficient of 2 for the top 5 European leagues) and is temporarily in second place. Sharing the same 20 points as Haaland are Robert Lewandowski (Barcelona – 10 goals multiplied by a coefficient of 2) and Pall Klettskard (Ki Klaksvik – 20 goals multiplied by a coefficient of 1).
Haaland trails the leader Alex Tamm (Kalju FC) by 7 points (27 goals multiplied by a coefficient of 1). To match and possibly surpass Tamm, Haaland will have to wait until after the international break.
The other two spots in the top 5 are occupied by lesser-known players, both with 19 points: Reginaldo Ramires (Auda and Riga) and Ndoye (Valmiera).
Aside from Haaland and Lewandowski, there are not many star names from the Premier League, Serie A, La Liga, Bundesliga, or Ligue 1 in the top 10.
For instance, it isn’t until 20th place that we see Mateo Retegui (Atalanta) and Marcus Thuram from Serie A, both with 14 points (7 goals). Other players like Bryan Mbeumo (Brentford), Cole Palmer (Chelsea), Ayoze Perez (Villarreal), and Bradley Barcola (PSG) each have 12 points (6 goals).
