Chelsea player was targeted with a laser pointer in the face by fans

Chelsea players Filip Jorgensen and Christopher Nkunku were targeted with laser pointers in the face during their match against Panathinaikos.

Swedish-Danish goalkeeper Jorgensen made a rare start for Chelsea in Greece in the Conference League. However, as the home team prepared to take a corner in the 14th minute, Jorgensen was distracted by a visible green laser beam on his face.

An announcement was made over the PA system at the Olympic Stadium in Athens. However, it seemed that some home fans ignored this, as Enzo Fernandez was also targeted with a laser in the first half.

Before Nkunku took a penalty to make it 4-0, his face was also covered with green laser beams. The French forward had to shield his eyes with his hand but remained calm enough to convert the penalty successfully.

These actions could lead to a fine for Panathinaikos from UEFA. Chelsea fans expressed their outrage on social media.

One angry user wrote: “Are Panathinaikos fans really shining lasers in the faces of Chelsea players? Classy move.”

Another said: “Why are Panathinaikos fans pointing lasers at Chelsea players? Why? Are they that desperate?”

A third added: “There’s nothing to say about the Conference League except for lasers on the faces of Chelsea players!”

This was Chelsea’s second consecutive win in the third-tier European competition. Previously, they had defeated Gent 4-2. After two rounds, Chelsea is currently at the top of the table with 6 points and a +5 goal difference.
