According to Spain’s Sport newspaper, Barcelona is planning a bold move to sign Manchester City star striker Erling Haaland in time for the reopening of Camp Nou.
Despite still facing financial difficulties, Barcelona president Joan Laporta is determined to bring the Norwegian “goal machine” to the club. Laporta aims to announce the signing of Man City’s star at the Camp Nou reopening ceremony, scheduled for 2026.
Haaland has been the subject of transfer rumors for some time, especially with strong interest from top clubs like Barcelona, Real Madrid, and PSG.
The 24-year-old striker has won every major trophy since moving to England from Dortmund in 2022. He has claimed consecutive Premier League Golden Boots and helped Man City achieve a historic treble in his first season with the club.
In the 2024/25 season, Haaland has continued his impressive form, scoring 10 goals in 7 Premier League appearances, including two hat-tricks. Given his success with City, joining Barcelona to experience La Liga might be the ideal next step in his career.
However, it remains to be seen whether Barca can turn this ambition into reality.
This weekend, Haaland will start in Man City’s Premier League clash against Wolves. He is currently under contract with City until 2027.
