Barca is concerned about MU’s transfer target

Barcelona is grappling with a major issue concerning Frenkie de Jong’s contract. Despite receiving a renewal offer months ago, De Jong has yet to respond, raising concerns about potentially losing one of their key players for free in the summer of 2025.

With the rise of young talents like Marc Casado and Marc Bernal, Barcelona’s midfield is stronger, and De Jong is no longer deemed irreplaceable. If he continues to delay, Barca might consider selling the former Ajax star in 2025 to ease their wage burden.

Should De Jong enter the transfer market, Premier League clubs – especially Manchester United, who previously pursued him in 2022- will likely show interest. While United recently signed Manuel Ugarte, the addition of De Jong could help resolve their midfield issues.

In positive news for Barca, Robert Lewandowski, after a scare on international duty, has been declared fit. The Polish striker only suffered a minor shin bruise and is ready for the October 21 clash against Sevilla.
