Antony of MU had to be stretchered off during the Europa League match against Fenerbahce due to a serious injury.
The Brazilian player came on as a substitute for Marcus Rashford in the 73rd minute but had to leave the field less than 15 minutes later because of the injury. He collapsed in the 85th minute and tried to continue playing for a few moments, needing medical assistance. Antony fell to the ground, covering his face in tears.
Realizing he couldn’t go on, he immediately asked coach Ten Hag to make a substitution. The Brazilian was carried off on a stretcher as MU finished the match in Istanbul with a draw.
After the game, media captured images of Antony using crutches and wearing a brace on his left leg as he left Ulker Stadium. No official updates on the severity of his injury have been released, but the 24-year-old is expected to undergo further tests in the coming days.
This latest injury has only added to the disappointment of fans regarding the player who was signed for €100 million. Antony has started just one match this season, scoring one goal for the Red Devils.
According to English media reports, MU is reportedly open to letting Antony leave in the January 2025 transfer window for around €40 million.
