Ruben Amorim’s tenure at MU has only just begun, but his approach already shows a clear difference from his predecessor, Erik Ten Hag.
Ten Hag, who was dismissed by MU last month, was known for his cool, strict demeanor on the sidelines, reminiscent of figures like Sir Alex Ferguson, Louis Van Gaal, and Jose Mourinho. However, the Dutch manager ultimately failed to bring major glory to the Red Devils.
This time, MU has taken a different path, although not entirely uncharted. Ole Gunnar Solskjaer is perhaps the manager most similar in style to Amorim, at least based on initial impressions.
In images shared by the British press, the new MU head coach was seen warmly embracing players at Carrington, those who stayed back during the FIFA Days, showing a friendly and close approach as he made his first appearance at the club.
In a video shared on MU’s social channels, Amorim is seen hugging Mason Mount, Luke Shaw, and other players, promising they would “have fun together” with the current squad.
Of course, final results will determine how long this “fun” approach lasts, but this friendlier style is already being well-received, and it doesn’t mean Amorim will be lenient with club discipline. After all, Jurgen Klopp succeeded at Liverpool with a similar method.
The German coach built a fantastic relationship with his players, helping them win both the Premier League and Champions League at Anfield. MU fans now clearly dream of similar success.
If Amorim can quickly gain his players’ trust, it will be easier for him to convey his ideas and philosophy. If the players are willing to fight wholeheartedly for him, just like Liverpool did under Klopp, who knows how far MU might go?
