Manchester United midfielder Casemiro shared a brief yet meaningful message on Instagram to show his respect for Ruud Van Nistelrooy. Despite the Dutch legend only coaching MU for four matches, Casemiro expressed deep admiration for “Van Gol.”
After Erik Ten Hag’s dismissal, Van Nistelrooy was appointed as MU’s interim coach for a short period. Although he performed well, he ultimately had to step aside for Ruben Amorim, the head coach from Sporting Lisbon. Casemiro was disappointed by the decision not to keep Van Nistelrooy at Old Trafford.
Commenting on the managerial change, Casemiro posted a picture of himself hugging Van Nistelrooy with the message: “Forever grateful, legend.” Before Casemiro, goalkeeper Andre Onana also shared his thoughts about Van Nistelrooy, saying, “Did we want Van Nistelrooy to stay at MU? Of course! He is a great coach, and we wanted to work with him.”
Onana also emphasized, “Not only is Van Nistelrooy a great manager, but he also has a wealth of experience and was able to offer us valuable advice. What he has done for MU so far is incredible. He helped us win and brought joy to the players.”
“The issue is, we don’t decide who leads MU; that is the responsibility of the club’s management, not us players. When they give us instructions, our job is to accept the decisions made.”
Unfortunately, Onana’s wish was not fulfilled by MU’s management. Nevertheless, both he and Casemiro enjoyed a memorable period working with Van Nistelrooy. Under the guidance of the former striker, who spent many years at Old Trafford, MU remained unbeaten, including three victories. The latest was a 3-0 win over Leicester at home. After his final match in charge, Van Nistelrooy took a lap around Old Trafford to bid farewell to the fans.
