What did Van Nistelrooy say after his final match in charge of MU?

Ruud van Nistelrooy shared some notable comments after his final match as interim manager of Manchester United. The future of the Dutch coach is still unclear.

Van Nistelrooy was appointed as interim manager to replace Erik ten Hag after the latter was dismissed by MU on October 27. In 4 matches in charge, Van Nistelrooy helped the team secure 3 wins and 1 draw. In his final match at the helm, he led MU to a 3-0 victory over Leicester.

Although his future under new manager Ruben Amorim is not yet certain, Van Nistelrooy expressed his seriousness about taking on a role at Old Trafford and outlined his goals for the team.

He stated: “I really enjoyed this time, even though it was short, it was impactful. We’re in an uncertain situation, but we’ve tried to do our job and help the club, which is very important.”

“You can see the quality of the team through the goals we scored, and we hardly left any openings. We’ve worked to stabilize the team after a period full of difficulties and emotions. The goal is to help the players perform at their best, giving them positive energy and self-belief.”

Fernandes praised Van Nistelrooy to the skies

“This period was a big responsibility, and I took it seriously. My goal was to help Man United improve its standing. With three wins and a draw, that’s the standard the team needs to strive for. I really felt a connection with the fans, and that’s the true essence of Man United.”

After the match, captain Bruno Fernandes praised Van Nistelrooy and hinted at the future of the Dutch manager under the new boss Ruben Amorim.

“Ruud van Nistelrooy embodies the spirit of the club, he loves the team and always wants to bring joy to the players,” Fernandes said. “He brought smiles to everyone every time he was on the pitch, and just wanted us to enjoy the game.”

“We wanted to say a proper goodbye to him in his role as manager for the good things he has done for us. This is a new era, a new manager means everything will change, but one thing that doesn’t change is that this club must return to the position it deserves.”

After the match, Van Nistelrooy stayed at Old Trafford to thank the fans with applause, acknowledging their support throughout his short tenure. Currently, no official decision has been made regarding Van Nistelrooy’s future, but based on his performance, the former PSV manager could be trusted with a role at the club under Ruben Amorim.
