Chelsea set a record with an 8-0 victory

Chelsea set a record in the Conference League with an impressive 8-0 victory over Armenian team Noah at Stamford Bridge in their third-round match early this morning.

Just 12 minutes after referee Ciochirca blew the starting whistle, Tosin Adarabioyo opened the scoring, kicking off a “humiliation” for the visiting team. The Blues led 6-0 in the first half with braces from Joao Felix and Christopher Nkunku, and another goal from Marc Guiu.

In the second half, Chelsea added two more goals through Axel Disasi and Mykhailo Mudryk, sealing an 8-0 win over Noah. This is the largest-margin victory in the history of Europe’s third-tier competition, surpassing the previous record of a six-goal difference when Nordsjaelland defeated Ludogorets 7-1 in the 2022/23 season. The Conference League was inaugurated in 2021.

This result is also the second-biggest win in Chelsea’s history. The club’s largest victory remains the 13-0 triumph over Luxembourgian side Jeunesse Hautcharage in 1971. This win also takes Chelsea to the top of the 2024/25 Conference League standings with a perfect 9 points after three rounds, along with an impressive goal difference of +13 (16 goals scored, 3 conceded).

Notably, Chelsea’s goal tally in this match is double that of the team with the second-best offense in the tournament, Legia Warsaw (8 goals). Despite fielding a lineup mostly of backup players, Chelsea still completely dominated and displayed their outstanding squad quality.

Coach Enzo Maresca has been actively giving opportunities to young, reserve, and less-used players, allowing Chelsea to manage their roster sensibly for the long season ahead. With four goals each, both Felix and Nkunku are now at the top of the scoring chart, tied with Afimico Pululu of Jagiellonia.
