Chelsea plans for Sancho

Chelsea’s coach Enzo Maresca believes they have a “special player” in Jadon Sancho, but the midfielder needs to continue working hard to prove it, especially against Manchester United and Erik ten Hag.

Sancho joined Chelsea on a season-long loan from Old Trafford at the end of the summer transfer window, with an obligation for Chelsea to buy him for between £20 million and £25 million in the summer of 2025.

So far this season, he has played 4 matches and provided 3 assists, starting 3 of his last 4 games for Chelsea in the Premier League.

Sancho is expected to feature again when Chelsea face Liverpool at Anfield on Sunday. Ahead of the clash, Maresca commented on Sancho’s performance and offered him advice: “Jadon is doing well. The only thing he needs to do is keep it up, work hard every day, and as I’ve said many times, he will definitely help us because we truly believe he is a special player. But the only way to confirm that is to work hard every day, never be satisfied, and always have ambition and want more.”

To make progress at Chelsea, Sancho had to endure a tough time at Manchester United, particularly after a falling out with Ten Hag last September over training standards. Sancho will be ineligible to play when Chelsea visit Old Trafford in the Premier League next month due to loan regulations that typically prevent players from facing their parent clubs while on loan.
