The English star is showcasing promising performances in his new colors.
Chelsea enjoyed an easy win at London Stadium, with Nicolas Jackson scoring a brace in the first half, followed by Cole Palmer sealing a 3-0 victory. However, beyond the goalscorers, Chelsea fans praised forward Jadon Sancho on social media.
Coach Enzo Maresca placed his trust in the former Manchester United player, deploying him on the left in a 4-3-3 formation. Previously, Sancho came off the bench against Bournemouth, assisting Christopher Nkunku for the winning goal. A week later, he needed just four minutes to set up Jackson’s opener, threading a pass that allowed Jackson to chip goalkeeper Alphonse Areola.
This marked Sancho’s second assist in two matches and his first time registering consecutive assists in the Premier League. Notably, it took him seven months at Manchester United to reach this milestone, while he achieved it at Chelsea in just 49 minutes.
After joining Old Trafford from Borussia Dortmund in the summer of 2021, Sancho’s first assist came in February 2022, followed by a double assist against Leeds United (a 4-2 win). His third assist for United arrived just three matches later against Tottenham before injuries sidelined him for the rest of the season.
Sancho’s first goal for Man Utd was a fortunate one, coming in a 1-1 draw against his new club at Stamford Bridge. Before leaving Old Trafford, the former Man City talent scored 12 goals and provided six assists.
Conflicts with Erik ten Hag limited his opportunities at United, but his talent is undeniable. After moving back to Borussia Dortmund in January, he impressed, helping his old club reach the Champions League final. Now, with his promising performances at Chelsea, Sancho is proving that his decision to leave Old Trafford was wise—at least for now.
