Journalist Andy Mitten has expressed surprise over a personnel decision made by Erik Ten Hag at Manchester United.
Speaking on Give Me Sport, Mitten remarked on his surprise that Ten Hag continued to use Christian Eriksen in Manchester United’s match against Southampton. Mitten commented: “I think it surprised everyone, and like many of his teammates, he struggled to get involved in the game. However, I believe Eriksen gradually improved and delivered a convincing performance.
He made a crucial interception in the first half and then received a yellow card. Many players were cautioned, and yellow cards seemed to be handed out quite easily. But I think Eriksen helped Manchester United better control the situation.
This was true for much of the game, and he delivered a set-piece that led to a goal. So, like many others, I think Eriksen can be pleased with his performance, but it was something that surprised us all.”
